Bellwether Capital was established in April 2004 as a SEBI registered equity portfolio manager. The investment management firm was founded by two professionals from the financial services industry, Ranjith Dongre and Miten Mehta, who have almost 50 years of experience between them. It is engaged in the business of managing equity portfolios of private clients and their families.
Key staff
Ranjit Dongre, Founder and Director, is responsible for spreading the equity ethos, by developing and maintaining client relationships. With over 15 years in investment banking, he is instrumental in broad investment strategy, fund raising, client acquisition, fund administration and regulatory aspects.
Miten Mehta, Founder and Fund Manager, spearheads the company’s overall investment philosophy and process. He is responsible for modeling portfolios, allocating funds, monitoring performance and risk control measures across portfolios. With over 20 years in equities, he brings to the table discipline, vigor, passion and an ability to identify winners.
Investment Philosophy
Investment philosophy of the company is based upon the belief that over time, a company’s stock price converges with the company’s true business value. Thus, investing in a stock that is priced significantly below its true business value presents the best opportunity to achieve the investment objective.
Though the portfolio is a mix of large-caps and mid-caps, investment focus is biased towards mid-cap stocks with a potential of becoming large-caps. This provides ample opportunity for a reasonably attractive return on our mid-cap bias.
