- Sunil Gowardhan- Sunil has over 30 years of experience as a practicing chartered accountant and in managing family offices. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and a Cost Accountant. He is also a DISA (ICAI) Information System Auditor, a certified business valuator, and a certified forensic auditor. He specializes in taxation, audit, structuring of tax-efficient deals, mergers and JVs, business valuation, and has experience in the full life cycle (from raising finance to execution) of project management.He has mentored and contributed in setting up of different startups in the fields of mobile banking and card management program, publishing and selling online multilingual e-books, document management systems, service apartments, medical transcription, mobile and software applications, and online distance learning platform. He has been associated as an advisor to several companies in their growth phase.

Rahul says, there is a lack of mentorship on the ground. They recently took a group of entrepreneurs from small towns for a bootcamp in Newyork. He talks about a guy named Shiva who has built an app that helps farmers and has already gotten 2 lakh farmers on the app but could not get the funding due to his lack of communication skills. This bootcamp exposed him to a lot of experts and now he has written a blog. The idea is to give this kind of exposure to the entrepreneur.

Scale Ventures is positioned as a sector agnostic early stage investor that will invest in over 30 early stage startups by the end of the year. The investment will be between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 3.5 crore.It will also be launching an accelerator programme in the future which will involve a physical campus focusing on startups in the tier II, III and IV cities.Scale Ventures was floated by IIM Calcutta batchmates Nilesh Rathi and Rahul Narvekar. Rathi is part of Rathi Group of companies while Narvekar is former CEO, IndianRoots, the ethnic apparel and accessories e-commerce venture floated by media firm NDTV Ltd.
